How should I organize an interview evidence packet?
Last reviewed: August 24, 2026
General information only. Start with the current USCIS appointment notice. This article organizes records and does not coach interview answers.
Use the current USCIS interview notice as the practical starting point because it contains instructions for that appointment. Then create a clean index: identity and appointment records, the filed I-589, later notices, translations, and supporting evidence grouped by incident or issue.
Keep originals separate from working copies. Label new evidence by date and source, and do not remove context from messages or photographs merely to make a packet shorter. If a document is not in English, check current translation requirements.
Keep a short list of documents added after the original filing so a reviewer can see what is new. Verify that PDFs open and that photographs remain legible. Do not publish sensitive records to public sharing links.
USCIS procedures can change. Recheck the live USCIS asylum and Form I-589 pages shortly before relying on an interview procedure.
