The USCIS Annual Asylum Fee is a high-volatility item.

Why some USCIS numbers may differ from an older G-1055 copy

USCIS's FY2026 HR-1 inflation notice is newer than some cached or older fee-schedule PDFs. For FY2026 statutory asylum fees, this page uses the newer official inflation notice — including the $560 initial non-ABC (c)(8) EAD fee and $102 Annual Asylum Fee — while G-1055 remains useful for the underlying base fee and filing-category rules. USCIS and EOIR do not necessarily change fees on the same date, so always verify the live source before filing.

Fee rules that prevent common mistakes

Four things to check before paying.

1. USCIS or EOIR?

First identify which agency is receiving the filing or payment. Their schedules and payment systems are different.

2. Base fee or additional fee?

Some USCIS filings have a base fee plus a separate Pub. L. 119-21 additional fee. USCIS says those statutory additional fees cannot be waived.

3. What date controls?

A fee that is correct today can be wrong for a filing made after a new fee takes effect. EOIR FY2027 changes are an immediate example.

4. Is a waiver actually allowed?

Some filing fees may have waiver procedures, while other statutory fees — including listed asylum fees — may not be waived.

Why we date this page

Never pay an immigration fee from a screenshot, old article, or memory.

Government fees can change and litigation can change how a fee is implemented. Confirm the agency, form, category, filing method, effective date, and current official source immediately before payment.
