USCIS permits eligible applicants seeking an Employment Authorization Document under category (c)(8), pending asylum, to file Form I-765 online. Paper filing also remains relevant in situations described by the current USCIS instructions.
Start at the official I-765 page
Do not begin from an old PDF saved on your computer. Open the current USCIS Form I-765 page and confirm that online filing is available for your category and circumstances.
Online filing requires a USCIS online account. The system guides the filer through the form and document upload process, but the applicant is still responsible for truthful, complete information and the correct eligibility category.
Prepare the same case records first
Before starting, organize your asylum-case evidence, identity documentation, prior EAD information if applicable, and any other evidence required by the current instructions. Use clear filenames so you know exactly what was uploaded.
Save proof after submitting
Download or print the submitted form and confirmation. Save copies of every uploaded document and later USCIS notices. USCIS service-center guidance notes that online filers can print their receipt; preserve it with the application.
Online filing does not decide when you are eligible
Being technically able to open an online I-765 does not itself establish that you have reached the correct asylum-based filing date. Check current USCIS rules and case information rather than guessing from the availability of the online form.
